Best Nutrition and its Importance

Nutrition is a very important part of our health. Nutrition helps us in building our health and developing our body. Nutrition in general can be explained as a balanced diet which includes all nutritions like carbohydrate, protein, vitamins, minerals, fiber, water etc which is needed for our body on a daily basis.

Nutrition acts as a fuel for our body which helps our body to maintain our muscles , bones, skin, brain, skin, nerves, and also develops our immune health.

Why is Nutrition Important?

As we know nutrition is needed on a daily basis and if we do not take proper nutrition it gets started lacking in our body and slowly our body starts going towards diseases.

When our body has nutrition deficiency it starts telling us signal and basic diseases like BP, Diabetes, Thyroid, Cholesterol, etc. Then it takes a vast form of Heart attack, Cancer etc.

Deficiency of Nutrition in our Body is also known as MALNUTRITION.

There are many forms of malnutrition according to WHO like undernutrition, inadequate vitamins or minerals, overweight, obesity, and many more as discussed above.

Good Nutrition is necessary in every age throughout their life. If we take proper nutrition on a daily basis then we can live a longer healthy life and can lower the risk of health problems like Heart Attack, Cancer, Obesity, Diabetes, Cholesterol and many more.

Nutrition is required for many purposes:

  • It provides energy for the metabolic processes in the body.
  • It is necessary for the growth of new cells and repairing worn out cells.
  • It is required to develop resistance against different diseases.
  • It is used to produce energy which is utilized in the different life processes for survival.

Components of Nutrition:

There are 6 major Nutrients which we get from are food:

1.PROTEIN: 

  • Protein is a very important part of our diet. It helps our body for growth and development. Protein also helps us in building our mussels and helps us in decreasing obesity also. They also help our body in repairing tissues, carry oxygen, digest food and regulate hormones.
  • We can complete our Protein from meat, legumes(pulses, beans, peas), nuts, eggs and seafood.
  • Proteins have to be intake every day basis as it does not get stored in our body.

 

2. CARBOHYDRATES:

  • Carbohydrates or carbs are used for energy. When we eat food containing carbs, our body breaks them into ‘Glucose’ which our cells use for energy.
  • We can get carbs from Bread, Rice, Potatoes, cereals, fruit, milk, sugar, pasta etc.

 

3.Lipids(Fats):

  • Fats are used to store energy, protect organs, support cell growth, and help your body in absorption of nutrition.
  • There are two types of fat:- Saturated fat (bad fat) and            Unsaturated fat (good fat).
  • Naturally extracted oils are good fats. Some good fats are omega 3, olive oil, home made ghee, mustard oil etc.
  • The processed fat is called bad fat or saturated fat as it gets deposited in our body and veins and causes many diseases. Some bad fats are refined oil, vegetable oil etc.
  • Good fat also helps in taking out bad fat from our body if it is taken in the proper amount.

 

4.VITAMINS:

  • There are many types of vitamins and all are important for our body and have their particular role in our body.
  • The vitamin B ( there are 8 types) helps with all sorts of things from releasing energy from carbohydrates and fats to breaking down of proteins and transporting oxygen and other substances throughout the body.
  • Vitamin A is important for our Eye Sight vision, growth, cell division, reproduction, and immunity.
  • Vitamins C is needed to form blood vessels, Cartilage, Muscles, and collagen. It is important for healing and helps your body absorb and store iron.
  • Vitamin D is needed for building bones and keeping them healthy.
  • Vitamin K helps to make proteins that are needed for blood clotting and building blocks.

 

5. MINERALS: 

              Here are a few of them that you may have heard of:

  • Potassium is used to help the kidneys, heart, muscles and nervous system work properly. 
  • Sodium helps nerves and muscles to function and helps your body regulate fluid levels (so that you don’t swell). 
  • Calcium is used to form bones and teeth
  • Phosphorus contributes to healthy bones and teeth and plays a role in forming DNA and RNA
  • Magnesium supports muscle and nerve function and is used in energy production
  • Zinc helps your immune system and metabolism function
  • Iron is needed to form red blood cells, which carry oxygen throughout the body.

 

6. WATER:

  •  Water is essential for many bodily functions since human bodies are made up of around 60% water. It helps your body keep a normal temperature, lubricates joints, protects your spinal cord, and helps you get rid of wastes through sweating, urinating and bowel movements.

Nowadays as we know our food contains lots of sugar, calories and chemicals in our food but our nutrition is lacking behind as shown above. So we should take care of our diet, how much nutrition we are taking and how much calories we are consuming.
